Updating RISC OS to 5.30 with MUG – 8th June

The next meeting of the Midlands User Group (MUG) will be an in-person event, and will be held from 2:00pm on Saturday, 8th June, at:

Dodderhill Parish Community Hall,
School Road,
Wychbold,
WR9 7PU.

Attendees will see a demonstration of how to update a system based around the ‘ROOL distribution’ of RISC OS – that’s one where the operating system and disc image comes from the RISC OS Open Limited website – so that it’s running version 5.30 of the OS. This will cover not just updating the ROM image itself, but also the supporting software needed for it, as well as installing and using the ROOL Wi-Fi stack, and talking about their NVMe filing system.

Please note that where the OS version and disc image on any given system was provided with it by the hardware’s supplier, that supplier may have their own upgrade process to allow for any customisations they may have made – and that will of course also apply to any different self-installed RISC OS distros.

Entry to the meeting is free – if you have any interest in RISC OS, and wish to attend, just come along and join in.
